Behind The Scenes: Our Journey

From concept to contactless revolution

1

The Idea (2016)

It started with scribbled notes about "rounding up contactless payments" during a hackathon. Our founders envisioned microdonations becoming automatic.

Key Challenge:

Creating a system that worked with existing payment infrastructure

2

Prototype Phase (2017)

12 months of testing wearable devices with 3D-printed cases. We partnered with a major UK bank to develop the transaction linking technology.

Breakthrough:

Direct Debit integration solved the microtransaction fee problem

3

Pilot Program (2018-2019)

500 users tested the system across London, generating £18,000 in microdonations for 6 partner charities. The average donor gave £1.20 per day without noticing.

Key Finding:

Users preferred round-up donations over fixed amounts

4

National Launch (2020)

After securing FCA approval, we launched nationwide with 12 charity partners. Despite COVID, we saw 28,000 signups in the first 3 months.

Pivot:

Added virtual donation cards when physical distribution was limited

5

Today's Platform

Now processing over 1.2 million microdonations monthly, with features like charity switching, donation caps, and impact tracking.

Next Frontier:

Expanding to EU markets and loyalty integrations
